crawfish today in my house

okay, so i don't really like shell fish because they crack when you want to eat them. I know there are a lot of vegetarians in the family-I don't mean to gross you out. I tried eating crawfish the other day, and I just couldn't eat something that was looking at me. Haha.

I had about a week off for mardi gras. The town just shuts down/becomes so overcrowded that no work can really get done efficiently. sorry I don't have any pictures, my cam is still at home. But it wasn't anything too special- intoxicated masked druids on 20ft floats throwing beads madly at children and in my eyes. Screaming, headless masses stumbling over eachother to reach for the best 'throws'. I felt like I was in a WoW pub and a mage just rolled on a sword. I was tired of parades by sunday, but I had some good memories playing harmonica in the neutral ground (huge median) of a street, underneath a statue of Jefferson Davis. Me, my friends Steve and Darren on Guitars, and our Bruce Springstein voices were but a spark in the brilliant sunshine of that saturday afternoon. Frisbee, running barefoot, and ghost stories. Aight, maybe the ghost stories is an exaggeration.

This week it was back to work. It's much warmer here, and there's a whole lot of sun. I feel a little toasty brown right now, as a matter of fact, like my skin was in the sun. This is probably because I went for a nice bike ride down Magazine St. It was fun, in that there were a bunch of art galleries and college kid hangouts. I am planning on taking Allison and Jim and Tina down that route, so I was just scoping the place out. Allison is going to be here the 15th and Jim and Tina are coming the 22nd. (Jim-Tina- show me some kind of response). Your visits can't come too soon.

Well, I am really tired and need a shower. I think after this I am going to watch some Aqua Teen Hunger Force. I might try some of the later seasons. Oh, also, I have been working on a Warcraft 3 map. It will truly re-define the word EPIC. I might make a blog line all about my map. Map-making is, I've recently (re)discovered, my favorite and most intensive hobby.

I love you all, my family.

Ridgemoor CC - Lake on Hole #1 Winter 2009

Hi all. I was surprised to hear that Dad has been working on a project to widen the lake on #1. It sure does bring back memories. I remember the winter where they were digging the lakes between 10 and 11.

Okay. I've been tinkering with some of these blogger settings to try and make the images crop a little neater, right now I'm knee deep in a jumble of HTML so bear with me. Anyway, I hope everyone is doing well and I look forward to seeing you all very soon.

midwinter ball

5 weeks down, 5 to go. Right now I'm on midterm break (aka the only 3 day weekend of the term) and although it seems like the extra day off wouldn't make much of a difference these extra 24 hours rock. Another great thing about midterm break - the school always organizes something really fun during it. Winter term they set up Midwinter Ball... which is a formal dance, with 3 different rooms of dancing with 3 different themes and 3 different styles of dancing. Our overall theme this year was Literature Genres... there was the SciFi room, which was just normal dance party music and normal dancing, but there was some cool lights and stuff. Then there was the Yule Ball (Harry Potter) with Social Dancing (and live music) in it. Lastly, in Sevy they set up a Murder Mystery themed room, complete with caution tape, footprints, and chalked out bodies on the floor. The dance style there was swing dancing and they also had live music... they definitely played La Bamba. Yeah, that happened. I visited all three rooms, but spent most of my time in SciFi. Anyways, the pictures above are all from that night before we went to the dance.

Today I'm going to probably hit up the libe and maybe the rec if I have time. The weather has been so good lately (think 30s and 40s!!) that I haven't had a good excuse not to trek across campus and work out. Hope you all are doing well. Take care everyone!

Working on Taxes

Hi All,

Jim of Urbana on the mic. I'm doing taxes today. I just ran for an hour and I feel pretty jazzed about life. I'm happy to be at home this weekend, as it seems to me, I spend much time away from Urbana.

Example: I just returned from Denver. I'm heading to Arlington, VA in the Spring right after Tina and I visit Tony in New Orleans, oh and then I was going to follow that up with a trip to Minneapolis in April, a marathon in Duluth over the summer, as well as another conference in Vancouver in June.

Looking forward to a sweet refund check and hopefully a stimulus check. I am saving money to take a holiday (Next December, 2009 in the UK or possibly Finland).
